It's set to be a busy winter and with temperatures dropping, why not get yourself down to a Great British Winter Market, and be a part of the thriving local social scene! With great community spirit rife in the air at places like Levenshulme Market and Withington Street Market - you will find it hard to stay away! Warm crusty breads with homemade butters and even cups of tea!

Saturday 23rd November - Levenshulme Market

Do you want to learn how to make tasty, wholesome bread?

From kneading to proofing, baking to tasting, you will learn how to create beautiful artisan bread in a matter of hours – with yummy treats to take home!

Starting the day with a cup of tea or coffee, we will taste a variety of breads, discussing the processes, methods and variations of each.


Feeling inspired, we will begin the workshop learning how to create a somewhat simple but versatile white loaf. Understanding and getting to grips with the ingredients, we will work through the process and once completing the basic white loaf – look to adding individuality to our loaves.


Whether there’s a secret sculptor inside of you trying to get out; you can try your hand at different slashes to create texture and visual impact to your loaf.

Or perhaps there’s a budding Heston within you that wants to experiment with flavours! There will be a selection of things to tempt you, from sun-dried tomatoes and olives to dried herbs and fruits!


Advancing to a more rustic loaf; the wholemeal round. This is a free form creation that is a welcome addition to many a meal or holding its own as a delicious toasting loaf.


Once the wholemeal is in the oven, we will enjoy a short break for refreshments, continuing into the afternoon with the final loaf of the day, the focaccia.


Taking on board the lessons learnt throughout the day, once your focaccia dough has been left to rise, you will be left to your own devices to create your focaccia layout and ingredients. Whether it be a simplistic rustic olive oil drizzled masterpiece or a dimpled sea salt sensation, it’s up to you!
